When my child turned 2, I realized fast that he was going to want his very own “big boy” room on the impending arrival of our 2nd kid. It was actually the perfect opportunity for us to transition him from his baby nursery room into more of a little boy bedroom. Some kids room ideas I have heard is decorating the room based on cartoon characters. For example, for girls I have seen many of us that have done a Disney princess theme in their child’s room. The basic concept is fine, and might even be actually lovable, but I actually would center more on a princess theme instead of centering on Disney characters.

This way, if the child outgrows liking a specific movie or TV show, the room will continue to be doable and not outmoded.

Lots of kids’ room ideas came from the Pottery Barn catalogue and others like it. These target more clean lines and items which will simply grow with kids. Plenty of their rooms are themes like dogs, airplanes, dinosaurs and even frogs. A few of them have characters or photos embroidered on them, but many are easy designs. There’s simply a classic feel about these rooms, and they don’t scream a kid lives there and the rooms still slot in with the rest of your home. Also, the youngsters really do enjoy the subjects and kid touches. We stopped up doing a transport theme in my boy’s room.

We bought vintage wooden and metal vehicles, trains and motorbike reproductions to brighten shelves, and even got a metal airplane to hang from his ceiling. Additionally, we acquired vintage transport posters for wall art.

His bedding is a straightforward plaid cover, and his walls are painted beige with one red wall to add some color to his room. We all adore it, and it had been a superb compromise for every one of us.
